Presentation Guidelines

 

Oral Presentations

Presentations must be uploaded from a USB drive to the laptop in the session room prior to the beginning of your session.

Due to the tight schedule, please note that speakers are discouraged from using their own laptops. If they wish to do so, any delay in time will be at the expense of the speaker's time slot. If a talk is not uploaded in a timely manner, the Session Chair will have the option to replace it with a backup talk to ensure session continuity.

Only PowerPoint presentations (.ppt) and Adobe Acrobat files (.pdf) will be accepted, as the available software includes Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. The projectors will have the capability to project in widescreen format, so presenters can prepare their oral presentations accordingly. The presenter is responsible for knowing how to use the software for their file format; a speaker ready room will be available for practice.

A computer, projector, laser pointer, slide advancer, and microphone will be available in each oral session room. Audio Visual Technicians will be available to provide technical support.

Time blocks for talks are as follows:

Plenary talks:

60 minutes (50 min. + 10 min. for questions)

Invited talks:

30 minutes (25 min. + 5 min. for questions)

Contributed talks:

15 minutes (12 min. + 3 min. for questions)

Speaker Ready Room

An onsite Speaker Ready Room with laptop computers provided will be available for speakers to practice their presentations. The available hours of the Speaker Ready Room are as follows:

Poster Presentations

The two poster sessions will be in the Plaza Ballroom D-E-F at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. Posters must fit on a 4 foot (1.2 meter) high x 8 foot (2.4 meter) wide poster board.

Poster Session 1 (unattended): 8:30 a.m. Monday - 12:00 p.m. Tuesday
Poster Session 1 (attended): T.B.D.
Poster Session 2 (unattended): 1:30 p.m. Tuesday - 4:00 p.m. Thursday
Poster Session 2 (attended): T.B.D.

Posters in Session 1 should be posted on Monday morning before the session starts, and taken down during lunch on Tuesday. Posters in Session 2 should be posted during lunch on Tuesday and taken down after the session ends on Thursday. The poster presenter is expected to remain at the poster during the "attended" poster session. In all cases, posters left on the boards at the end of each "unattended" session will be disposed of and not returned to the author.

Please note that in order to give your presentation, you or one of your co-authors must be a registered conference attendee. Each poster has been assigned a number, and must be mounted on the appropriately numbered board. (You can check the number by referring to the on-line program on the conference website.)
